Thank you for booking your hour Guided Trail Ride with Royal Oaks Equestrian! We look forward to having you at our facility! In order to make sure your visit is the best it can possibly be here are some guidelines to ensure a safe, fun, and wonderful day is had for all. Please be sure to read through these before the day of your visit to ensure you know what to expect, what you need, and when to arrive. DAY OF YOUR RIDE DETAILS
- Arrival time is 20 minutes prior to your scheduled ride time. All riders not at the farm 10 minutes before their scheduled ride time are subject to forfeiting their ride.
- You must wear closed toe shoes or boots. (We recommend boots over sneakers when possible).
- You will need to wear long pants to protect from bugs and saddle rubs. (Yes, those are a thing, and they are uncomfortable!) We recommend that every rider wear bug spray. We keep our horses sprayed to try to help keep your ride as bug free as possible as well.
- You will need your reservation confirmation with you or on your phone to check in.
- Reservations must be paid in full at the time of booking the trail or they will be cancelled. In the event of card issues or other technical problems we will contact you via email to correct the issue.
Once you arrive, you will be introduced to your guide, your ride and checked in. Then you will receive a mini riding lesson as well before we begin our guided trail ride. Once the trail ride commences it will be approximately an hour long or two hours long depending on your booking, on our 6,000 acres of maintained trails at Poplar Grove Plantation! The group trail ride will be at the pace of a walk, no there is no exceptions to this for the safety of all.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long is the ride?
There are two options for guided trail rides, we have a one hour trail ride and a two hour trail ride.
Do I have to wear a helmet?
Yes, helmets are provided, and due to insurance reasons they are required for all riders.
Is there a weight and age limit?
Yes, you must be under 245 lbs and over 8 years of age in order to ride. Children are not permitted to ride on the horse with parents, every rider must have a horse of their own.
Do I have to bring/wear anything special?
Helmets will be provided by the facility. However, you will need to wear long pants and closed toe shoes. It is recommended to wear boots or sneakers. (Boots are prefered) Sandals or flip flops are not permitted.

We recommend that you bring a water bottle. Cash tips for your trail guide are welcomed and appreciated.
What is the procedure for day of the ride?
Riders need to be 20 minutes early to the facility in order to get checked in and to complete their paperwork. Riders not at the facility 10 minutes before the scheduled ride time will forfiet thier ride, without a refund.
How many people can ride at once?
Currently, we are taking reservations for groups of up to 5 per time selection, if your group is larger than 5 people please contact us before booking and we will work with you on scheduling a more flexible option for your group. We do offer several time selections per day.
I have never ridden before... Do you have to have experience?
No, definitely not. No experience is necessary. Our professionals will host a mini lesson before you leave the barn to help you learn to navigate the trail safely. All trails are walking only and guided by professionals. Beginners are welcome!
I am an experienced rider, can I just rent the horse for the day?
No, our guided trail rides are riden as a group, with a tour guide and at a walk. There are no exceptions to this. If you would like to do more than walk you are welcome to book a traditional lesson with our professional instructors or contact the farm directly for more information.
What happens if there is bad weather the day of the trail ride?
In the event of thunderstorms or heavy rain you will be contacted before the scheduled ride time to let you know of the cancelation of that days ride. You have 60 days to reschedule your ride date and time for another of equal duration.
What is your cancelation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your ride you will need to email RoyalOaksBookings@gmail.com a minimum of 72 hours in advance to be eligible for a refund/reschedule date. Thank you.
